In the middle of this materialistic world, music can help people slow down and reconnect with their own self and find meaning in life.

Dr. Rajnandini was born in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh on 10th October 1986. From a very young age of 7 years, she started learning the basics of music from her guru Dr. Pushplata Chaturwadi, a lecturer of BAK Inter-College, Moradabad and a reputable classical singer herself. For eight years, Rajnandini has learnt indian classical music from her Guru under the Guru-shishya tradition.


Rajnandini’s god given musical gifts meant that she could master the vocal exercise effortlessly from the word go. At the graduate level as well, Rajnandini chose to learn Music & Literature, topping her University, Rohelkhand University, Bareilly. She went on to complete her M.A. & M.Phil in Hindustani Classical Music from Faculty of Music & Fine Arts, Delhi University. Here again she proved her music prowess by topping the college, Miranda House and the University as well. During this time, she was also honored with the Fellowship Award by University Grants Commission (U.G.C.) under the aegis of National Talent Search Scholarship Programme. 


She also had the opportunity to learn Aesthetic under the guidance of Guru Late Prof. Sushil Kumar Saxena who was an Indian musicologist, academic, scholar and the author of several books on music, philosophy and aesthetics. Her research during M.Phil pertained to the novel field of study – “Conception of the Moods of Raagas” and was conducted under the guidance of Guru Prof. Sushil Kumar Saxena.

Rajnandini has also done her PhD in 2018. The topic was her thesis ‘Vartmaan sandarbh mai sangeet ka adhyatmik paksh’ (The spiritual side of music in the present context) from faculty of Music and fine arts, Delhi University, Delhi. She has also published few of her articles/research papers in the UGC approved Music journals like Vageeshwari and Naad Nartan.

 

She has performed in many places and festivals in India. Now she is living in Barcelona, Spain where she keeps doing solo performances and with some other musicians.

 

Beyond academics, she also trained for 8 years under guidance of renowned vocalist late Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan (Dilli Gharana) . She has also had the opportunity to perform with the legendary figure of Indian classical dance, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj from whom she is also learning Kathak.

 

In the present, Rajnandini is learning from the renowned vocalist Vidushi Uma Garg from Kirana Gharana. Under the guidance of her Guru she discovered the various aspects of Indian Classical music and the nuances in singing. Rajnandini’s style of singing is Khayal, Thumri and Bhajan. Rajnandini’s presentation of Raagas and her soulful bhajans are highly acclaimed by audiences of music.

Her meditative, soulful voice is said to transform her audiences. She has given several solo concerts in Europe and India. Some of her memorable concerts include Andorra, organised by Indian embassy. Rajnandini has won many awards and felicitations. 

Besides performing, Rajnandini conducts lecture demonstrations and also shares her passion and dedication to Indian Classical music by teaching many aspiring music students in Barcelona, Spain.
